Getting visible is a crucial part of your sales funnel and being able to make an impact and help your clients as a Coach. Visibility is about getting seen, becoming known and creating a name for yourself so that your front of mind when your audience are ready to work with you. If you aren’t visible, then quite frankly my love, your potential clients probably haven’t heard of you (and how can you help them that way). Visibility is about getting seen, heard and building relationships with the people who matter (they’re your dream clients FYI).
I have to admit, I struggled with visibility before I found my rhythm in my coaching business. I had lots of fears and limiting beliefs around being seen and until I worked with a coach, I wasn’t really able to see what was going on. So much visibility, truthfully is mindset. The strategy is easy, it’s the consistently showing up day after day that requires your on point success mindset.
I’ve been thinking a lot about visibility as many new coaches join my Facebook group (you can join here). It’s a consistent theme coming through. They want to get in front of more people and have more eyes on their website. That’s where visibility comes in, it’s actually about getting seen before people find your website, so they actually take that step to discover more about you.
While I’ve been thinking about it I developed the 5 C’s of Visibility for Coaches. This is the 5 components of visibility that you need to ensure you are doing if you want to get seen and draw in your ideal clients. Let’s go through them now.
The 5 C’s of Visibility for Coaches
- Content Strategy
- Consistency
- Credibility
- Connection
- Confidence
Let’s dive into each of these briefly so you can see where you may need to do some work to get truly visible, stand out as a leader in your niche and start having clients reach out to you (instead of constantly chasing them – which let’s admit is a total drag).
1. Content Strategy
This is basically the places you are going to focus on to get visible and the way you’re going to deliver your content. So, where should I get visible? The answer to this is going to vary for each individual Coach but two questions to ask here are; where are my dream clients hanging out? Where do I feel most comfortable? Answering these two questions will hopefully start to help you figure out what you’re strategy is going to be.
The most common strategies are; FB pages, FB groups, FB ads, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, face to face networking, guest speaking/writing, media outlets.
The most common ways of delivering content are social media posts (and videos), Livestream videos on social media, blogging, guest blogging and media features, speaking, podcasts and networking.
2. Consistency
Here’s the thing. You’re not going to be highly visible if you show up for a few days, post your content and then think it’s done. You need to be developing a strategy that allows you to show up consistently on a regular basis. This doesn’t have to be every day, however if you’re not being seen at a minimum of 3 times a week, honestly, you are just not going to cut through.
So how do you do this? I’m a big fan of batching and repurposing (and I have an intensive that covers this, click here to read more). I create all my content in an hour a week which is enough to allow me to show up across my two key platforms and sharing content most days. If you are a coach using an online strategy, you must find a way that works for you and allows you to be sharing content consistently regularly.
3. Credibility
You may be sharing content consistently and in line with a content strategy, so the question to ask is; is it building credibility? Is the content I’m sharing positioning me as a leader, as someone who can help, someone who is knowledgable and has value to offer? Sometimes people say they’re showing up daily but their content is not related to their coaching business or doesn’t tie in with their core message. An occasional food or family picture may be great for know, like and trust but if you’re sharing these on a regular basis and they don’t provide value or position you as a leader, it might be time to review this. The same for quotes, if you are using quotes, make sure you expand the caption as add your own story, insight or value beyond the quote itself.
Often people are shying away from sharing their value, even their name or pictures of themselves due to deeper fears and mindset. If this is you, it’s time to work on your mindset and a content plan that allows you to showcase you and your work – you’re the face of your business as a coach!
4. Connection
The aim of all of your visibility strategy is to build connection with individual people (dream clients and often other coaches or complimentary businesses) that are interested in hearing from you and that begin to engage and ultimately grow a community.
Connection is definately a 2 way street – often I see people sharing their content around but not engaging back with others around them and in their community. Comment and engage with other people’s content. Be interested in them! Answer their questions, get to know them – you will stand out as someone who is genuine and cultivates relationships (trust me, you’ll stand out if you do that as SO many people don’t bother, they post and run – a bit like the old pash and dash from your teenage years!) and always, always, always reply to people’s comments on your content. If someone reply’s to an email newsletter or leaves a comment on your blog or anywhere, always respond.
Your aim it to create genuine connection, foster relationships and grow an engaged community – and it can be that simple. Those who felt seen and understood are more likely to take the next step towards you.
5. Confidence
Confidence in your strategy and what you are doing is so important! You could be doing everything else BUT if you don’t have belief in what you’re doing you’re not going to be able to maintain your strategy for long and you’re likely to sabotage yourself. A success mindset, belief in yourself and confidence in your strategy is a must in your visibility strategy.
What do you think? Is it clear for you that one of these elements is missing from your visibility game?
