YOUR SALON LOOKS SUCCESSFUL. BUT WHAT’S IT ACTUALLY LEAVING YOU?

Laura O'Hagan, chartered accountant and founder of Salon In Control, working at a laptop

A full column. A team you’re proud of. Revenue that looks healthy.

But once the wages, the tax and the bills are paid, you can’t say for sure what’s yours. Even in a good month.

You don’t have a sales problem. You have a financial control problem.

Salon In Control is the pathway to fixing it.

From the outside, your salon looks successful.

A full column. A growing team. Strong revenue. Loyal clients. A great reputation.

But behind the scenes, here’s what you’re asking yourself:

Where is all the money going?
Why am I working this hard without feeling financially ahead?
Why does the business make good money, but I don’t seem to have any?
Can I actually afford to pay myself more?
What happens if revenue drops?
Why does every unexpected expense create pressure?

And underneath all of it, in one salon owner’s own words:

“I have rarely anything to show for all my years of hard work.”

For too long, salon success has been measured by how much the business does.

How much revenue it generates. How many clients it sees. How many staff it employs. How busy the diary is.

It’s time we measured success differently: by what the business actually creates for the owner.

A successful salon ultimately, is one that can:

REWARD YOU
A proper income for the owner who built the business.

GENERATE PROFIT
Real profit, kept on purpose, not by accident.

HANDLE TAX
Tax set aside and paid on time, so BAS stops being a scramble.

BUILD FINANCIAL SECURITY
Money behind the business, so one unexpected bill doesn’t create pressure.

GIVE YOU CONTROL
Clear numbers you understand and use to make confident decisions.

Owner reward. Profit. Tax handled. Financial security. Financial control.
That’s the Salon In Control Standard™.

If that’s the standard you want your business held to, you can apply now, or keep reading for exactly how we get you there.

I’m Laura O’Hagan. I’ve worked with more than 100 salon and clinic owners, and only salon and clinic owners.

I’ve sat across from owners having genuinely strong months who still couldn’t tell me where the money was going. Brilliant at the craft, brilliant with their team and their clients, and never once shown how to run the financial side of what they’d built.

I’m a Chartered Accountant by background, but this isn’t accounting. Salon In Control is the framework I use with real salon and clinic owners, built for this industry, not adapted from generic small business advice.

What Changes and How fast

Day 10

Your diagnostic is complete: a clear picture of where your business stands today, and the priorities that need fixing first.

Day 30

You have a cashflow process in place and running.

Day 60

On average, clients have recovered the full cost of the program from the savings found in the first piece of work alone.

Day 90

One full quarter in, you see a real lift in profit and business performance, with 86% of clients paying their BAS bill in full.

WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE IN A REAL SALON

Our first Salon In Control client, straight after her Diagnostic:
“I feel surprisingly optimistic.”
“You take the emotion out of it, but it’s not dry.”

Two salon owners, eleven years in business together. For years, their plan was hoping what came in would cover what went out. Last month an $11,000 tax bill landed, and the money was simply there. They high-fived each other when they paid it.

From salon owners I’ve worked with through my previous program, using the same financial foundations:

One salon owner, working alongside two team members and turning over $300,000 to $400,000 a year, found $60,000 in savings within the first 8 weeks. That’s around seven times the cost of the program, from that first piece of work alone.

“It’s given me clarity, less stress and security for the future.”
Kate Taylor, Salon Owner, Studio Sunday

India, owner of Playa Salon, increased her own wage by around $600 a week and started paying herself super.

Shanai Cramer, owner of Your Aesthetic, lifted her wage by $500 to $600 a week and hired a new team member with confidence.

NOT ANOTHER ACCOUNTANT. NOT ANOTHER COACH.

Most owners who reach this page already have an accountant, often a bookkeeper too, sometimes a business coach helping with leadership, marketing or growth.

Salon In Control isn’t here to replace any of them.

Your accountant tells you what happened last quarter. Your coach helps you lead and grow. Salon In Control helps you decide what happens to the money coming in this week, so more of it stays with you.

It’s the financial operating system sitting underneath everything else, the piece that turns good numbers into decisions you can actually trust.

THE PATHWAY TO SALON IN CONTROL

Every salon has a unique starting point.

You can’t build the right plan until you know where you’re starting from. That’s why Salon In Control doesn’t begin by handing every salon owner the same list of things to fix.

We start by diagnosing your business.

Your financial data is assessed against the Salon In Control framework to determine where your business is today. You don’t choose your level. We diagnose it.

And that diagnosis becomes your starting point.

Where are you now?
Your diagnosis identifies your starting point.

Where are you going?
The pathway takes you towards Financially In Control.

Your starting point is not your destination. Some owners begin Financially Under Pressure. Others are Financially Stretched. Many are Financially Reactive, where the business is functioning but financial decisions are still driven by what’s happening right now. Some are already Financially Developing, with stronger foundations being built.

Wherever you begin, your starting point tells us what needs attention first.

You don’t need to fix everything. You need to know what matters most right now.

Financial Levels Ascension Pyramid: Financially Under Pressure, Financially Stretched, Financially Reactive, Financially Developing, Financially In Control

BECAUSE THE RIGHT NEXT STEP DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU ARE

When the numbers aren’t where you want them to be, it’s tempting to try everything.

Raise your prices. Cut expenses. Increase retail. Add another service. Change the team. Work more hours. Find more clients.

But when you don’t understand the underlying problem, you can spend months making changes without actually changing the financial health of the business.

Salon In Control takes a different approach.

Diagnose. Understand what’s really happening.

Prioritise. Identify what is holding the business back.

Take action. Focus on the area that will make the biggest difference.

Measure. See what changes.

Progress. Move towards the next stage.

One step at a time. With a clear reason behind it.

THIS ISN’T ABOUT MAKING YOUR SALON BUSIER

It’s about making the business work better.

Because more revenue doesn’t automatically mean more profit. More clients don’t automatically mean more money in your pocket. More staff don’t automatically mean more capacity.

And growth without financial control can simply create a bigger version of the same problem.

You don’t need more clients. You need the money you’re already making to actually work for you.

Salon In Control helps you understand the business underneath the busyness, and build the financial foundations that allow it to work for you.

So you can move from:

Where You Are Now Where You’re Headed
Where did all the money go? I know exactly where the money is going.
Random owner drawings Predictable owner pay
Revenue without profit Revenue converted into profit
Constant guessing Financial visibility
Working in the business Increasing your capacity to work on it
“I’m winging it” “I know my numbers”
Stress Control
Survival Stability

IMAGINE KNOWING WHAT’S REALLY GOING ON

Knowing where your salon stands financially.

Knowing where your money is going.

Knowing whether you’re paying yourself enough.

Knowing whether the business is actually profitable.

Knowing how much financial security you have.

Knowing what is putting pressure on the business.

Knowing what needs your attention first, and knowing what to do next.

Can I hire this person? Can I put my prices up without losing clients? What’s actually the right call for the business, not just a guess? Can I take the time off? Can I take maternity leave without the salon falling over? Will the BAS get paid without that drop in my stomach and a two week scramble to find it?

Imagine not having to guess. Not looking at the bank balance and hoping. Not waiting until tax time to find out what happened. Not making a major business decision because it feels like the right thing to do.

You know. And because you know, you can make better decisions.

That’s financial control. That’s what being Salon In Control means.

WHAT’S ACTUALLY INCLUDED

Salon In Control is a 12-month program built around your business, not a course you work through alone.

We’ll talk through what this looks like for your specific business on your Discovery Call.

Financial Diagnostic

Your own diagnostic and results session, built from your numbers.

Personalised Pathway

A personalised starting point and pathway, built around you, not a generic checklist.

Rolling 30-Day Focus

A rolling 30-day focus, so you’re never trying to fix everything at once.

Ongoing Support

Monthly pulse checks, weekly implementation support and a quarterly reassessment to track how far you’ve come.

FOCUS AREAS BUILT AROUND YOUR DIAGNOSTIC

Every 30 days, you work on the one thing that will make the biggest difference to your salon right now. Focus areas include:

Install Your Cashflow Process
A simple weekly rhythm, so money is set aside before it’s spent and tax is never a surprise.

Find the Money
Savings and recovered cash already sitting in your business.

Wage Sustainability Plan
For when wages have crept past half your turnover, so you can keep looking after your team and the business.

Pricing For Profit
Prices built from your real costs and time, not what the salon down the road charges.

And more being added throughout the year.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU APPLY

Applying takes a few minutes. It’s how we make sure Salon In Control is genuinely the right fit before we get on a call, not a form that leads nowhere.

If it looks like a fit, you’ll be invited to book a Discovery Call.

On that call, we’ll talk through your numbers, what’s really going on financially, and what your specific starting point and pathway to being Financially In Control would look like. No generic pitch, it’s built around your business.

We’ll also talk about the investment, openly. If you’re wondering where the money would come from, you’re not alone, and it’s one of the first things we work through. On average, clients recover the full cost from the savings found in their first 60 days.

A FEW THINGS OWNERS OFTEN ASK BEFORE THEY APPLY

I've set up separate bank accounts before and it didn't stick.

You’re not alone, and it’s not a sign you did something wrong. Opening a few accounts is easy. Making the numbers fit the reality of your salon, week after week, is the hard part. And cashflow is only one piece. Salon In Control starts with a Diagnostic of your actual numbers, so the process is built around your business, with someone keeping you on track.

I already have an accountant, do I need this too?

Yes, and they’re not in competition. Your accountant reports on what’s already happened. Salon In Control helps you decide what to do with the money coming in now, and builds the system that connects the two.

Honestly, I'm not sure where I'd find the money for this.

That’s the most common thing salon owners say before they start, and it’s a fair question. One of the first focus areas is Find the Money: finding savings and recovered cash already sitting in your business. On average, clients recover the full cost of the program in their first 60 days. We’ll talk it through openly on your Discovery Call.

Twelve months feels like a long time to commit.

It’s a pathway, not a holding pattern. You’ll have your Diagnostic within the first 10 days and a cashflow process running by Day 30, and on average clients have recovered the cost by Day 60. Twelve months is what it takes for the changes to become how your salon runs, not something you have to keep pushing.

I already work with a business coach.

Most of my clients do. Your coach helps with leadership, marketing and growth. Salon In Control looks after the money underneath all of that. They work well side by side.

Will this actually work for my business?

That’s what the diagnosis is for. Salon In Control starts by assessing where your business actually stands today, not a generic checklist. Your starting point and your pathway are built around your numbers.

Will this mean cutting costs, lowering wages, or cutting corners with my clients?

No. Profit isn’t about making your business cheaper, it’s about making it financially sustainable. This is about protecting the quality, the team and the reputation you’ve worked hard to build, not putting them at risk. If wages have crept above half your turnover, we’ll look at how to make them sustainable for everyone, but it’s never about squeezing your team or the quality your clients love.

I'm already stretched thin, do I have time for this?

That’s exactly why the first weeks are built the way they are. You’re not handed a course to work through alone, it runs on a simple weekly and monthly rhythm, with early wins in the first month, so it doesn’t feel like more admin on top of an already full plate.

THE GOAL ISN’T PERFECTION. THE GOAL IS TO BE IN CONTROL.

Financially In Control means your business meets the Salon In Control Standard™.

It pays you properly. It generates profit. It builds financial security. And you understand your numbers well enough to make confident decisions.

That’s a very different definition of success. And it’s one we’re building the entire Salon In Control program around.

SALON IN CONTROL

A pathway to building a business that actually works for you.

Not another program telling you to simply increase your revenue.

Not a giant list of things you should be doing.

Not more information to overwhelm you.

A clear starting point. A diagnosis of where your business is today.

A focus on what matters most.

A pathway for improving the financial health of your salon.

And a clear destination: Financially In Control and meeting the Salon In Control Standard™.

YOUR SALON LOOKS SUCCESSFUL. BUT WHAT’S IT ACTUALLY LEAVING YOU?

Owner reward. Profit. Tax handled. Financial security. Financial control.
That’s the Salon In Control Standard™.
If you’re ready to build towards it, apply now.

Founding client places are open now and limited to the first five owners. Places are confirmed in the order Discovery Calls are completed, not by applying.
